Has this type of conflict happened between states and the DNC before? Sure.
Was this a overreaction? Sure- but a calculated one.
The Switch
Who currently leads the polls in Florida? Clinton. Who would have run uncontested in Florida? Clinton. Florida would have automatically given Clinton a major delegate boost, making her a virtual lock for the presidential race. As we have seen, the National DNC has already chosen it’s Savior, and thy name is NOT Clinton. Being rid of that pesky Florida count will make the job of getting Barack elected much easier.
To put the dot on the exclamation point, the entire Kennedy Family endorsed Barack Obama on Jan 28th . The massive DNC financial and logistical support was already obvious. Being that the Kennedy’s are still the behind-the-scenes leaders of the party made this public endorsement almost seem redundant. But, there it is.
Big News
With all this, the DNC still won’t leash their dogs. MSNBC hangs on every work of Hillary and Bill Clinton, attempting to characterize him as a racist babbling psychopath, and her as a robot. Even though MSNBC has convinced other networks to run their analysis-fetishism of the Clinton’s remarks as news, not one of these networks will air the actual recorded clips of these conveniently “offensive” remarks. The only noise over the air is the incessant discussion of these remarks.
Unfortunately, once again, the only news source that has picked-up on this odd incongruity is Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. And…they’re not afraid to show the clips in question. Every “offensive” clip that MSNBC, CNN, and FOX (of course) love ruminating about contain the Clinton’s saying something…well.. obvious and uninteresting. The fake (and I believe, well paid for) over-reactions from our ‘news’ service’s talking-heads make for many fun jokes on the Daily Show. The overreactions seem to range from heady to complete derangement. Unfortunately, it’s not funny anymore. Most people, depressingly, don’t watch “The Daily Show,” and believe normal news services report actual news. Most don’t know that the analysis is not information, let alone news. It is well-paid exercise in intellectual masturbation for the pundits, and Americans are just too stupid to know the difference. I’m sick of having to watch the fake news to find real information, because the ‘real’ news can’t handle the job. Thank God for the Daily Show. Maybe when the writers come back, it’ll be funny enough for more people to start watching it again.
The Party
I’m not worried that the DNC is trying to rig an election. It means that, after years of incompetence, the DNC is beginning to learn. I don’t like what they’re learning, but it’s a start. The crazy days of stupid stunts like James Carville trying to construct a ‘folksy-off’ between and John Kerry and George W. are over (I hope). I remember a speech from Kerry during the campaign that essentially ‘made’ him a president. I sat there and said to myself, “my god, this guy is already president”. His words had the gravitas of any of the he greatest speeches on our history books. He had the presidency right there. The next week, out of some desperate perceived need to look more like the town hic, the DNC had him try to pull-off some ‘Bill-Clinton-with-a-sax’, moment. The DNC got it just right- Kerry looked the village idiot and went on to lose against a real one. I’m not sure if Carville was the one to blame, but he’s weird and ugly and I’m blaming him anyway. If they’d just let Kerry come out and say, “Listen, I know I’m not very personable. I’m a serious man. But, I believe serious times require serious men…” or something to that effect. That’s that past. What really worries me is the future. Are the maneuvers by the DNC just another example of traditional rampant uncoordinated incompetence? If not, why all the Barack-love? The Clinton years were good, and the people remember. People remember someone got a blow-job, but it’s no where near the importance of the jobs they’ve lost since then. People may be dumb, but they CAN make distinctions between 2 different things. Maybe the DNC doesn’t know that. Clinton’s are a known-factor: you know what you’re going to get because you seen it before. Jobs, social programs, strong economy, world peace (or at least, ‘peace-ier’), and A BALANCED BUDGET; do you remember?.
Did you know the American dollar is now worth the same as a Canadian one?
Why look to the ‘future” that is completely unknown? Clintons are the past, yes, but a pretty good past. Why would the DNC intentionally roll the dice on Obama when they have a known commodity in Clinton? Do they know something about the Clintons that we don’t? Do they know anything at all?
My wife said something interesting. After 5 minutes of railing on the Democrats and Obama-love, she blurted out: “If they keep this up against Hillary, I’m switching to Republican!”
“What? You can’ do that! You’d rather elect Romney than Obama or something?” I asked
“Yes! I’ll never vote Democrat again.”
I didn’t get it for a while. Why intentionally elect the same lying, war-mongering, power-hungry, repressed homo-pedophiles we have now? She must be nuts, too. But it finally hit me. The democrats we’re supposed to uphold freedom and democracy, but what do we have now? These people are not the same bunch as before. Alternatively, you know who you’re electing with Republicans. No surprises. In the end, it’s the devil you know.
